When Life Gives you Lemons, you make Lemonade

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

Life will often throw you lemons and as the strong, smart and amazing child of God you are, you have to make lemonade after what you were given. Often life will hand you a bad hand of cards that will include mistakes, set backs, set ups, pain and hurt but you must buy allow those situations to overtake you. Read the photo below:

This quote means negativity, hardships, trials and tribulations will always happen especially when you're are on the brink of something new but God says if you rest on his word and not allow the mistakes of the world to overtake you, you will lead a happy and successful life. You must remember that God really has the final say, the weight of the world cannot compare to who God has created you to be and it is continuously tugging on the rope as you are climbing towards the top. You are under God's watch eye, no matter how it may seem like you're bring attached from Devils everywhere. Greatness is your last name and you will know by the size and amount of attacks you will be under. If you don't feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, then you may not be as close to your DESTINY as you think but like Pastor Eddie Long once said "When you feel like you're about to break, don't break." That is you passing the test that you are strong enough, smart enough and amazing enough to move into the next level of your life. Don't let no Devil on Earth allow you to forget your God in Heaven!! I believe that God hears your every cry and he answers your dying questions, if you put a command and demand on how and when you expect something from God, that is exactly when you will receive it.

Bday Chronicles: 4/27

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

My Bday Ideas
I just want to chronicle my journey to Miami and back for my birthday. I decided my 21st birthday would be spent in Miami around Feb. when the dates for Beyoncé tour was released. I told my self the beginning of this year that for my birthday, I would like to go to either Miami or California. I've spent every birthday since sixteen in New York and this year it had to change. I asked God where should I go and Beyoncé tour dates were released and she was going to be in Miami on 4/27/16 and since she's my favorite artist, it felt like an easy decision so I went with it.

On My Way
My cousin and I were getting our last minute things together before we left for our flight and she says she forgot her wallet. I began getting nervous cause I just knew things started off wrong already. It was around 4:30am and our flight was at 6:00am. She rushed to grab her wallet and we made it to the airport by 5:05am. We had fifty minutes or about twenty to be exact because our boarding time was 5:30am. We MADE IT!! Good thing, I checked in online and all we had to do was get out baggage checked and walk through the terminal. This was only my second time riding a plane and I forgot what it felt like. I actually like flying except for the pain it causes my ears to have at the end. On another note: I didn't know that you had to stand up and get body scanned through a machine, it was weird but modern technology so a faster way to go through airport security.

In Miami, 4/27
Miami was a journey, the first day we went to the wrong hotel and had to take a uber to our hotel. After that, we went to the pool at our hotel, got dressed and ready for Beyonce's concert. Who knew the entire world would be at the concert?? We left around 6:30pm to get there and traffic was hectic to the point where I had to take off my shoes and put on my flops so we could walk to the show a block away.

The Concert
Beyoncé did a great job as always but I had terrible nose bleed seats which is something I'm never doing again, you mine as well watch it on tv seeing it from there.

We were sitting on the second floor as we left the nosebleed scary area to go closer and who's behind us, Yo Gotti. I knew it was a rapper but I wouldn't think of his name!! 😂😂

Saw DJ Khalwd on the first row as everyone was screaming and I missed Lil Wayne performing, such a bummer.

Second Day, 4/28
The second day, we went to the beach and had a good time. We twirled through the water, took pics, met new people then walked the strip. As we walk the striped, we were stop by three party promoters. We took a photo with an iguana, and ate at Tides. The steak tacos were delicious!!! From Tides, we could see the Drag Brunch at Palace and they were working, hunny!!

After that, we walked some more as horns beeped at us and we went to the strip club. This strip club did not live up to my expectations at all. It was so dry and boring, we had a little fun but I won't tell you about that. The customers weren't tipping the girls and the music was not popping.
We walked the strip so more and caught a left back to the hotel.

Third Day, 4/30
We got on Jet skis aka Jet boat Miami and had so much fun!! I had to put a bag on my head to be sure not to get my hair wet. We seen one of Diddy's homes, Elizabeth Taylor, Will Smith, where Fast and Furious shot. We seen were Bad Boys was shot and more. It was a great adrenaline rush for this Junkie. Afterwards, we walked to a few stores then caught an uber to the hotel. We got all dolled up and went to dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse where my phone ended up dying. Dinner was nice, huge steak, crab and artichoke dip and margaritas. We left and had to walk to Walmart to charge my phone to call an uber. Uber picked us up, we went to the hotel and got in the pool again.

Fourth Day, 4/30
We stayed at Dolphin Mall, pacing and charging our phones, eating and trying to pass time by until our flight.

Around 6:30pm, we caught an uber to the hotel and prepared for our flight. Miami International Airport is unorganized. We walked for hours trying to find our destination, stayed at the gate we were assigned on our boarding passes and were later told when we asked that we were supposed to be in another gate.

We rushed to the gate and the doors were closed. Thank God, they were later opened by a flights attendant who rushed us on our flight to an uncomfortable seat back to DC!!

My allergies began acting up and it was cold in DC!! At the end, I was ready to go back to Miami.

THE BBW Body Brigade

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

Presenting the Beautiful Big Women Brigade.... Featuring Chrisette Michele, Jasmine Sullivan, Danielle Brooks and Gabi Gregg (Fresh).

These women mentioned above grace the Ebony cover and a special inside featuring these women in all their glory. Thick thighs and pretty eyes all over the paper. Now let me show you the cover:

Stunning, right?? They are gorgeous in their red lipstick and sexy army uniforms showing that Big is Beautiful and Strong.

Now, let's talk about why this cover is so important.

The History
For years, women of a larger size have been body shamed, talked about and called a thousand names that don't quite represent who they are. Today is all about changing the misperceptions. Not everyone who is larger, thicker, bigger or even fatter is lazy, sloppy, unhealthy and insecure. These women are actually hardworking artists, singers, designers, actresses and in everyday life can be mothers, wives and much more. Yes, their thighs are bigger and their hips, too but does that make them any less valuable than you. I think NOT!! Chrisette was a vegan for a while, and due to health issues had to change her eating habits up a bit so she's not slushing down slabs of ribs as many may like to think.

The Labels
Fat- A person who has a large percentage of body fat or excess flesh.
Thick- A person who is thick in the thighs and a little big (my interpertation) but by dictionary, in or with deep, dense or heavy mass.
Plus size-of a size larger than a normal range.
Big-considerable size or extent.

To a certain extent, I don't understand why women or people hate the above terms now sloppy and lazy, I get but big is just better and plus is just more of and thick is sexy and fat, now that I understand may sound offensive but to a certain degree when you own what you are, it makes it that much better. Don't let the world define your size, YOU DEFINE who you are or even better, GOD Does!!

    My Fav: Chrisette Michele

Actress in Orange is the New Black: Danielle Brooks

Fashion Designer Gabi Gregg

Singer Jasmine Sullivan

Don't they ALL look GORGEOUS

I love all of these women and I think this is an accomplishment, we should celebrate CONFIDENCE!!

Chrisette Michele Pre-Album Tour

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

Only those close to me can tell you how excited I get when I meet my favorite celebrities and Chrisette just happens to be on the same level as Beyoncé to me so imagine the thrill!!

This is my third time meeting Chrisette but first time really introducing myself and getting a nice photo.

Chrisette is my favorite artist, her music speaks to my soul and resonates within me. Her actions outside of music remind me of who I feel I am or I strive to be. She is soul and rich in heart and art which nothing could replace!!

The Concert
An artist I've never heard of named Patrice Live opened up for Chrisette and she was amazing. She has a great singing voice, great stage presence, amazing dancing and very relatable. She is pretty and I can see her going very far. I heard her interacting with fans who purchased her album afterwords.
Check her out "Patrice Live."

Then, there was a rapper that we were told is signed to Dame Dash's new label by the name of Joshua Gunn who reminded me of a baby J.Cole. He has great stage ability, lyrics and killer delivery. His singer/hype man was amazing as well. Definitely a great way to open up the show and very entertaining. His lyrics were on the level of J.Cole as one line was "You lukewarm, May Weather." Check him out as well: Joshua Gunn

Back to Chrisette, she sang everything from her Grammy award winning "Be Ok" to "Better" and "Blame It On Me." Also, "Total Praise," All I Ever Think About" and so much more. I know the words to all of these songs which is a miracle!!

I love Chrisette and if you love real singing, you'll love her as well.
Visit richhipster.biz to check her out!!

I gave Chrisette my book so let's pray that she reads it and enjoys it!!

It's Not You, It's MEn

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

I am currently watching #ItsNotYouItsMen, the newest talk show featuring great recording artist and actor Tyrese and legendary hip hop star Rev. Run talking openly and honestly about sex, love and relationships. They are giving you the perspective from a single and very married man. I love the concept of the show because it addresses topics that women may discuss with few friends but is never addressed with your spouse or partner that you are in a relationship with. Also, the show shows the biblical/spiritual perspective from Rev. Run and the more free spirited thoughts from Tyrese.

As a young woman, I love hearing the two sides of the many topics discussed such as born again virgins, marriage longevity, purity, and relationship decisions. You get to hear their honest thoughts on what is right and what they do.

Tyrese is correct when he says "How can you naturally be a wife/husband when you don't have a representation of it in your life?" It is hard for many of us to know what the roles, position, place and value of a husband/wife really is because we were not raised by people in healthy, successful marriages. This show is opening up to that misperceptions of "I want to be a wife" without knowing what that actually means.

I love when Rev. Run says he didn't touch his wife before marrying her because he knew the fruits of his labour would be rewarded for his obedience. His lifestyle is a representation of the perspective he's shares on the show.

You have tune in to this show on OWN at 10/9c.

Let this show spark conversations in your household.

Poem "Apologize for Black" by M.H.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

Hey Everyone, I know if you are in the #DMV area, you are probably netflixing and chilling right now as it is a blizzard outside so I wanted to share a poem with you that I wrote in about twenty minutes at noon. Comment with your thoughts!!

Apologize for Black

In 2016, it's okay for us to feel
Like our black skin isn't real
Real-ly the reason you view me differently than before
Heard me on the phone
Was willing to open a door
And let me walk in with no apologies
For my skin
Being black, we are so used to apologizing for who we are
I'm sorry that my skin caused you to think I steal
I'm sorry that my skin caused you to feel
Like you had to run or hide, or even stay inside
My, my, you had to swallow your pride and say
You're not what I expected, so different
Your decision you regret it
Crazy how I walked away thinking I didn't do everything I could
Had the answers down to a tee, a resume that surely impressed me
But he said "No" and now I'm thinking I could've done more
Then Mama says there's no more u can do
In this world, baby
I have to tell you the truth
They don't see your intelligence, dedication or motivation
They see a thug, a thief, a drug dealer, an absent father and most of all, A Black Man
A Black Man
A Black Man that to them is great for being the help
Is good enough to lift, push and pull
Is good enough to move, work, and play
But to offer a position
Permanent at that, is the biggest regret
Because deep down they know
That if ever offered an opportunity to be on the same level
That your position will be threatened
Career will be reckoned
And not that his intentions made it so
But honestly, your perfect grammar and your   White collar suit
Suits you for the position much better than I
Oh, Why?
My black is only good enough for basketball and rapping
I could never be the CEO
I could never be the owner
Because then, I am owning a part of me that isn't true
Black Brothers, it's not in u
Ever to be greater than your skin has allowed you to be
And they want you down on your knees
Begging and pleading, please
Master, don't kill me
With your hands up in surrenderance
Your future to him lies dependence
Then I say to Mama
You've always said I was a King
Well, that's because to me my son, you are
And I don't ever want you to apologize for being black
You are smart, handsome, strong, hardworking, kind, caring, one of a kind
And Baby, you're mine
So don't ever for one second think
You have to.... Apologize for Black

How Ordinary Are You??

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen:

How Ordinary Are You?

Many of you may say "very" and there are few who may say "not at all." The few who would say "not at all" is the group I most relate to but I would like to speak to the "very" group tonight. Very ordinary may seem like an extreme compliment because it doesn't seperate you, outcasts you, point you out or condemns you in any manner but the not at all classifies you as weird, crazy, different, and something wrong. When in all actuality, there is something wrong with desiring to be just like everyone else, wishing, hoping to be like everyone else. I've come across a thousand teenagers in high school and they all sound the same, dress the same, look the same and began to act the same in school causing me not to be able to differentiate one from another. Why is that? I believe in our childhood we are often taught that being different is a problem, if you sit and everyone else is standing, you are pointed out and ridiculed; if you cry while everyone else is laughing, you are ridiculed without question or concern as to why and that is what causes kids to form a misperceptions that being different, standing out is a problem and it is better to fit in with society, agree with society's standards then form your own mindset and way of thinking. By the time most kids are in middle school, they are trying to discover who they feel they are at a young age and are curious as to so many things that their natural childlike mind would not dare to think. By high school, a huge misconception is formed that right is where the majority is, not what God says, not what God has spoken but what the majority feels is okay and acceptable. Is there anybody willing to be bold and honest about who they are and not give two cents of thought to what someone else feels about who they are? Stop living to be cool, everyone you're trying to impress could careless about you so start living to please God. At the end of the day, he is the one person that never leaves you nor forsake you. God could never see you fall and not pick you up. Trust him in all that you do and know that who he created to be is perfect for you and is not up to anyone else to like, love or appreciate.

How to Turn A Mess into A Message: You're Always Going to Be Scared, Do it Anyways

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen:

So, I was watching 'The Real' as they were discussing a "Dear 15 Me" segment    and boom, a message that a celebrity posted clicked "You're going to be scared, do it anyway," A message that she would tell her fifteen year old self was  to do it anyway even though she would be scared. This is a message that I wanted to send to you, whatever it is that you want to do that is positive and good for you, DO IT!! Do it inspite of the fear, shame, guilt, concern for others thoughts or feelings. You are the one who has to live in your shoes and you do not want to be hindered because of all of the what ifs, how and it might not. Go for it and if doesn't work, try again. If you never give up, you can never lose. You may wonder how it's going to get done, how much time it would take but if you begin putting in the work, you will see results. Fear will forever hold you back. Let Go of everything that is telling you not to and do it anyway. Fear is there, push pass it!!

August Alsina's Song isn't the only thing Crying

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

August Alsina has a new song titled "Song Cry" off his upcoming album "This Thing Called Life." The song starts off saying "Sometimes I get emotional when I don't have a place to go, this is a feeling that I've experienced myself and could absolutely relate to. Several of my poems in my book will describe a feeling of being in despair and feeling like I had no one to turn to. August talked about having suicidal feelings in his interview because he was deeply depressed, this is something that many people experience but shy away from or feel shameful of. One of my favorite things to say is "Live in your truth." I have seen so many people pretend to be and cover up the real them and it's time to stop hiding your pain because you're afraid of what people might say, think or feel. When you release what has been in you for so long, no matter if the situation improves or not, it cannot get any worse than it already was and usually it will help you for the better. Please go listen to August Alsina's "Song Cry" as he pours out his heart and his feelings which is highly appreciated by me. His album will be released December 11th and talks about all of the different feelings he's experienced with family, etc..

I understand August in his dark place because I've had my own journey of getting out a dark place. One HUGE thing August mentioned that helped him through his despair was God becoming mentally and spiritually more connected to God is the greatest way to turn any dark situation around. Pour all of your life's worries on him, you won't have a perfect life thereafter but a better one.

Hustle through the Hurt

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

I'm sitting here watching Black Ink Chicago as I hear the owner of 9Mag, an urban tattoo shop discuss I his sister who was shot and killed by her boyfriend, who even killed her nine month old baby. This same sister was everything to her brother and was supposed to give him the money for his apprenticeship for tattooing. When she died, he received $600 plus dollars and he used that to start his career in tattooing. This reminded me of my book titled "The Meaning of My Story" set to be released January of 2016. Pre-orders are available for this book now, $20 by sending email addresses to me. This book is a journey of my past HURT that I am turning into MY HUSTLE and this is only part of the story. All of my poems end well, just like I expect life to.

Don't ever forget that each day that you live is a life story with great purpose behind it that you have yet to discover. Don't ever take life for granted.
