DISMISSING, DENYING AND IGNORING YOUR PAIN

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:
I've always loved Evelyn on Basketball Wives and I tend to like the person that nobody else does. Iyanla digs deep inside of you to pull out your Darkest Moments so one day you will live your Brightest Life.

  • In an effort to fix some of her deep rooted anger issues, ‘Basketball Wives’ star Evelyn Lozada appeared on the premiere episode of Iyanla Vanzant’s ‘Fix My Life’ which aired last night on the OWN Network. During the 40 minute segment (that was filmed before she filed for divorce], Evelyn explained her anger issues by telling Iyanla that she’s always on defense mode because she doesn't trust anyone. Iyanla, in response, asked her, ‘What is it about you that creates that energy in the world? You are the one that dictates what goes on in your life?
  • Evelyn also revealed that her ‘ah ha’ moment regarding her behavior happened when her step-daughters were laughing about her throwing a bottle at someone on television. That’s when she realized she wasn't setting the best example but she also realized that every woman in her family deals with conflict the same way. Iyanla had Evelyn’s mom sit in on a portion of the interview and it was revealed that her mother was abandoned by her own mom when she was a little girl. Her mom also said that she feels bad for Evelyn sometimes because she just doesn't know any better.
  • Throughout the interview, Evelyn expressed that she wanted to change and that she is still the 7 year old girl who is afraid of not being love as well as being afraid of losing everything that she’s acquired. Iyanla was very supportive as she spoke with Evelyn about her past, but she also gave it to her straight at times, especially when it came to her behavior on ‘Basketball Wives’. She told her:
You’ve been rewarded for being out of order and a thug among woman. You got to get that and only you can change it. We have to know what it is gonna cost you to become the truth of who you are. Because it’s gonna cost you. You get paid for that! Will you get paid for being the truth of who you are as a woman in this world?

  • “I did,” replied Evelyn. “And I’m here to tell you guys I’m sorry for being a bad example.”“You’d cry sometimes,” says Evelyn’s stepdaughter Cha’iel, referring to past situations within their family where Evelyn would get emotional over her past behavior on past episodes of “Basketball Wives.

Practice What U Preach

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

  • Earlier this week, I listened to my favorite rapper alive Lil Wayne in "Hail Mary."
  • Trey Songz song "Hail Mary" features Jeezy and Lil Wayne.
  • One thing that Lil Wayne said struck a chord in my mind. He said "Practice what you Preach" and this statement reminded me of the judgement that Lil Wayne faces daily.
  •
  • People judge Lil Wayne because he has tattoos on his whole body and face. He has 4 babies by 4 different woman and he raps using vulgar terms. They assume he is ignorant because he never graduated high school or went on to college.
  • I beg to differ, Lil Wayne is very intelligent for someone who only finished ninth grade. If people listen carefully to his lyrics, they will hear him use simile's and metaphors. They will hear lyrics that deserve to be quoted.
  •
  • Lil Wayne has four kids and four baby mothers who all have a great relationship and he is actively involved in his kids lives.
  • Many people in this America, dish out  advice daily but do not think twice about taking that advice into their own lives.
  • People often call people dirty for being involved in several relationships but they are married and messing with someone on the side.
  •
  • People often call other people irresponsible and dirty but do not clean themselves and do not take care of their households.
  • People will quickly judge you for your past mistakes but every Saint was once a Sinner. "Every Sinner has a future and Every Saint has a Past."
  •
  • Be able to acknowledge what you have done and it's affect on those around you.
  • People will call you and your best friend fake then call your best friend and talk about you.
  • It is a great to help people in their time of need but be sure to evaluate yourself.
  • Do not promote positivity if your a pessimist, work on yourself first.
  • Do not promote nonviolence and talk about this fight you were in yesterday.
  •
  • You can use your past as acknowledgement to help the person realize what they should and should not do when giving advice.

Jada,Willow and Adrienne-Happy Mother's Day!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Everything In Between:

It's Marshay and I would love to discuss Red Table Talk....

Red Table Talk is a new web series, which Jada hopes other families will participate in, Jada Pinkett Smith invited her family to sit at a red table and have an open conversation about their lives together (no topic was off limits).  Just in time for Mother's Day, Jada hopes other families across the country will sit and have "talks" to build better relationships and stronger families.

Here are the highlights ...

Jada says: "My belief is that communication is the best way to create strong relationships.  Just for people to be able to sit down together and have a conversation, that's the power of love. Love is what sometimes holds us and binds us when we're not so happy. If we concentrate on how much we can love one another, we can get through all the other stuff.”

Willow says: “If I had to change one thing about my life, it would probably be, I wouldn’t be famous,” the 11-year-old singer admitted.“Because when you’re famous it’s so hard. Let’s say if a regular girl is going to the book store, it’s ten times harder to go everywhere [when you're famous]. But some people are like, ‘Oh, it’s so easy,’ and I’m like, ‘As fast as you can get there, it’s going to take me ten more minutes to get there.’ Because I have to call security.”

Adrienne says: "Jada did not have the kind of life that you have now.  And I was not a good mother.  And I know that your Mom believes that all experiences good and bad help make you the person that you are today.  But I feel like during those times, the bad outweighed the good.  I was on drugs until your Mom was 17 or 18 years old.  I have been clean for 22 years and I went into therapy.  But I felt like things that needed to be said that she needed to get off her chest.  I have been so caught up in my own guilt for years."

  • Jada stated that her and her mother had basically grown up together.
  • She views the life experiences as overall good because her mother gave her freedom. She would allow her to express herself creatively.
  •  She learned the power of freedom with healthy boundaries.Jada stated that her mother never once told her she couldn't do something. Anything she was interested in such as dancing and singing, her mother was there.
  • When Jada gave her mother an automatum, "Ma, I'm not staying here in North Carolina School of the Arts, you have two choices "I can go to law school or I could go to California and see how all of this works." Her mother told her let's pack for LA. That's a mother, she may have been on drugs but she knew how to love. At the time, she may not have loved herself but she loves her daughter. Jada said "that's good parenting because her mother was intuitive enough to know who she was."

In life we need, to be told "Reality is Wrong, Dreams are Real" as stated by Tupac Shakur. Tupac was Jada's best friend.

Parents: Please Get to Know Your Children.. Learn what they like, why, who they like, what they dislike and why. You should be able to identify God's purpose over your child's life if you pay close enough attention.
